회원:
한인 입양인에게 개방되어 있으며, 한국 사회내 언어, 문화차이를 연계하기 위하여 한국인자원봉사자들을 포함한다. 사업 중 일부는 입양인들만을 위하여 열리기도 하지만, 대부분 모든 회원을 대상으로 하며, 연회비는 매년 등록 시기에 납부하게 된다.


조직:
매년 2/3월에 연례 총회가 열린다. 회원들은 격년으로 법적 이사회 임원을 임명, 선출하게 된다. 직원과 자문위원은 한인 입양인과 한국인으로 이루어져 있으나, 대부분의 중요 결정은 입양인들에 의해 이루어진다. 직원과 자문위원은 매년 프로그램 일정을 준비하고 행사와 프로그램 실무를 진행할 책임이 있다.

** G.O.A.’L은 가족찾기를 하려는 입양인들에게 다음의 절차를 따르기를 추천합니다.

1. 먼저 입양을 떠날 때 거쳤던 한국의 입양기관을 찾아 가능한 많은 정보를 얻으십시오. 한국 입양기관들(동방사회복지회, 대한사회복지회, 한국사회봉사회, 홀트아동복지회)는 당신의 정보에 대한 파일을 가지고 있으며, 따라서 가족찾기에 가장 중요한 정보(친가족의 이름, 출생지, 생년월일 등)를 이곳에서 찾을 가능성이 가장 높습니다. 기관을 통해 상봉이 즉각적으로 이루어지기도 합니다.

2. 다음, 입양기관에 가족찾기에 도움이 될 유용한 정보가 없는 경우, G.O.A.’L 웹사이트의 친가족 찾기 데이터베이스에 온라인으로 등록을 할 수 있습니다.

3. 등록에 관해 질문이 있는 경우, 입양서비스 담당자(이호경) services@goal.or.kr 에게로 연락 주십시오.

4. 친가족의 단서를 찾아가려는 경우, G.O.A.’L은 경찰서 및 지역 관공서와 연계하여 당신의 가족찾기를 지원합니다

5. 마지막으로, 위의 모든 방법을 이용하여 성과가 없는 경우, G.O.A.'L은 한국의 언론(TV, 라디오, 신문 등)과 연계하여 가족찾기를 진행할 수 있습니다.  현재 KBS 아침마당(매일 아침 전국 방송, 가족찾기는 수요일 방송), YTN(국제방송팀)과 지속적으로 협력하고 있습니다.

역사: 
G.O.A.'L은 1998년 유럽과 미국의 입양인들에 의해 창립되어 현재 서울에 사무실을 두고 있는 비영리 비정부 입양인 단체이다. 한국에 돌아오는 입양인들에게 문화와 언어의 장벽을 넘어 한국 사회에 접근할 수 있도록 지원하는 네트워크로 시작하여, 지금까지 끊임없이 한국사회에 입양인들의 목소리를 내고, 교육하기 위하여 노력하고 있으며, 이를 위하여 정부에 대한 로비와 입양관련 연례 컨퍼런스 조직, 두 언어로 된 소식지 발간 및 공공 교육, 네트워킹 및 친교행사 등의 일들을 하고 있다.

또한 G.O.A.’L은 친가족 찾기 지원, 통번역 서비스, 1:1 한국어 교습, 유명 대학들과의 한국어 교육 장학금 연계, 타 기관과의 연계, 한국 방문 및 체류를 위한 조언, 계좌개설, 전화 마련, 비자 취득 등 정착을 위한 지원 등의 입양 사후서비스를 제공하는 단체로 성장하였다.

Membership:
Open to all Korean adoptees.  Additionally, we have native Korean volunteers that are instrumental in bridging language and culture gaps for adoptees within Korean society.  Some events are specially funded for adoptees only, though most are open to all members.  Membership fee is paid annually, based on the time of registration.

Organization:
An annual General Meeting is held in February/March of every year.  The members of the association bi-annually appoint and elect a Board of Directors, which is a legal mandate under Korean law.  The staff and advisors are a mix of Korean adoptees and native Koreans, though all major decision-making is ultimately made by adoptees.  The staff and advisors are responsible for setting an annual program schedule and coordinating & organizing all the programs/events therein.

To initiate birth family search G.O.A.'L recommends the following steps:

1. FIRST, contact your respective Korean adoption agency and obtain as much information as possible. Your Korean adoption agency (Holt, KSS, ESWS or SWS) has the original file with your data and therefore the chances of finding vital information (birth family’s name(s), city of birth, birthdate, etc.) for your search at your Korean adoption agency are the highest.  Reunions are some times instantaneous this way. 

2. NEXT, in the case that you’re not given any useful information by the adoption agency regarding your search you can register online on the G.O.A.’L web-based database at: http://www.goal.or.kr  -> Family Search -> Online Form

3. If you need help with the form or the registration process you can contact our Post-adoption Services Department at services@goal.or.kr (Ms. Hoya Lee)

4. G.O.A.’L works closely with the police departments and district offices in case you have some helpful information to track down your birth family.

5. LAST, in case you the above methods are not successful, G.O.A.'L can connect you with the Korean media (TV, newspaper, radio etc.).  We cooperate especially with KBS (Achim Madang – a daily morning program that airs nationally, but searches only air on Wednesdays) and YTN (Korean international news channel).

History: 
G.O.A.'L is a registered non-profit, non-governmental adoptee organization based in Seoul, Korea founded by adoptees from Europe and the US in 1998.  Beginning as a network to assist overseas adopted Koreans returning to Korea to access Korean society by bridging barriers of language and culture, G.O.A.’L has worked tirelessly to educate, create a voice for and increase recognition of overseas adopted Koreans in their homeland through lobbying the Korean government, organizing an annual conference addressing adoption-related issues, publishing a regular bi-lingual newsletter and coordinating public education, networking & social events. 

G.O.A.’L has grown into an organization that now also provides post-adoption services including:  birth family search assistance, translation/interpretation, 1-on-1 Korean language tutoring, scholarships for Korean language study at well-known Korean universities, referrals to partner organizations, advice on visiting or living in Korea and assistance with accessing basic services in Korea such as opening a bank account, setting-up mobile phone service or obtaining the F-4 visa, etc.
